The Dragonfly has been a symbol of happiness, new beginnings and change for many centuries. The Dragonfly means hope, change, and love.

Plumas Crisis Intervention & Resource Center is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization operating in the rural, frontier counties of Plumas & Sierra located in the Sierra Nevada Mountains of Northern California.

The mission of the organization is to function as a safety net provider of countywide services that offers individuals and families the opportunity to live to their own potential and be treated with dignity and respect. The agency is now in its 40th year of providing services to the area’s most vulnerable populations.

The organization has been serving individuals and families since 1983 operating as an umbrella agency to the 24/7 Plumas-Sierra Crisis Line; Sierra SAFE - Rape Crisis & Domestic Violence Services; Plumas Rape Crisis Services; Plumas CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate Program; MAC Homeless Prevention Program; Housing Navigation Services; CalWorks Housing Program; Bringing Families Home Program; Home SAFE; Housing & Disability Advocacy Program; Targeted Strategic Investment Project; North Star Adult Re-Entry Program/Warm Hand-Off Project; and the PCIRC Self-Help Legal Clinic, offering form assistance to those in need. The agency serves as the point of Coordinated Entry for the homeless and is a partner with NorCal Continuum of Care.

Additional projects under construction include the North Star Navigation Center, providing temporary room and board amid an array of trauma-informed supportive services; Ohana Village offering transitional housing cabins for those on the path to permanent housing; and the DragonFly Café, a full-service culinary academy and local restaurant to provide career training and educational opportunities for high-risk populations to achieve career success, financial independence and housing stability.
