Ohana Village is a project component of the North Star Navigation Center and will offer homeless program participants the opportunity to graduate to transitional housing after completing their emergency housing stay if permanent housing has not been secured.
The site will include 26 detached cabins ranging in size from studio to two-bedroom units. The footprint will support 16 studios, 8 one-bedroom units and 2 two-bedroom units, with one unit in each category offering ADA access. One & two-bedroom units will include half baths, while the studio units will utilize a common building with congregate bathrooms that also support shower facilities for all Ohana Village units.
Multiple buildings will house laundry facilities. A second common building includes Ohana Village resident dining and an outdoor patio area with a pergola. Community gardens, outdoor play space and a maintenance unit complete the footprint.
The site will support 24/7 supervision and staff will engage in intensive case management with all residents. This model rural program will operate through a trauma-informed lens in promoting the well-being of individuals while changing their path from homelessness to permanent housing
